Member and Family Advisory Council

The Member and Family Advisory Council is a group of members who provide advice and feedback to AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio to ensure the Medicaid managed care organization is listening to and incorporating the voice of the customer.

The primary responsibilities of the Member and Family Advisory Council are to:

  • Provide recommendations to AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio about member needs and barriers to obtaining services.
  • Contribute meaningfully to the AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio population health and quality improvement strategies.
  • Advise and support the governance work of the Next Generation Model of Care contract and the management tasks, services, and support carried out by AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio associates.
  • Develop and submit a quarterly report on findings to the Ohio Department of Medicaid under the guidance of the Director of Member Engagement.

AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio convenes a Member and Family Advisory Council meeting quarterly in each region of the state. AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio invites at least ten members per identified region to participate in the Member and Family Advisory Council. The composition of the council is diverse and representative of AmeriHealth Caritas Ohio’s membership throughout the region with respect to the members' race, ethnic background, primary language, age, Medicaid eligibility category [Group VIII Expansion, Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI), and aged, blind, and disabled (ABD)], and health status.
